About the Course

The Formwork Basics for Site Workers course from Skills Gap Training provides new and developing construction workers with a clear, practical introduction to safe and effective concrete formwork.

Learners gain an understanding of the purpose of formwork, the common systems used on modern sites, and the essential components involved in assembling and supporting temporary moulds.

Through simple demonstrations, visual examples and step‑by‑step guidance, participants learn how to identify different formwork types, recognise key structural elements, and follow correct setup procedures.

The course places strong emphasis on hazard awareness, PPE, stability checks and safe working practices, helping workers understand the risks associated with formwork and how to avoid them.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to support basic formwork operations, identify common mistakes, and contribute safely and confidently to concrete works under supervision.

This introductory training builds a solid foundation for progression into more advanced formwork, joinery or concrete‑related roles within the construction and civil engineering sectors.
